The Line-Up
Turn off your lights. Plug your headphones or speakers into your computer, and crank up the volume. If you have a lava lamp turn it on. If you have four full-sized haze machines, four atomic strobes, and eight arena-strength intelligent lights (just a fraction of what they wanted and what we're giving them), turn those on too.

That's right. You told us you wanted them...

MGMT IS HEADLINING YALE SPRING FLING 2010!!!

Arguably the biggest indie rock band of all time, MGMT combines electo-rock riffs with catchy synthetic dance beats and an iconic vocal style to create a unique brand of psychedelic electro-pop rock (yea, all that in one band. Get it). Their debut full-length, Oracular Spectacular, hit #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, andRolling Stone Magazine named it the 18th best album of the decade (we'd rank it higher, but that's neither here nor there). Their debut single, Time to Pretend, made so many waves in the indie community that it spilled over into mainstream music playlists - a trend that MGMT had only just begun.

They were nominated for two Grammy awards in 2010, including best new artist, and in 2009, Justice won the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for their remix of MGMT's "Electric Feel."

With such innovative but accessible music, it's no wonder you can hear MGMT everywhere you go, from the dingy basements of Modern Love to the sweat-and-beer covered dancefloor of Toad's...and for Spring Fling 2010, MGMT will be more relevant than any band we've ever had, as these elecro-indie rockers will be releasing their next full-length, titled Congratulations and reportedly featuring collaborations with the legendary Paul McCartney, on April 13th - just two weeks before Spring Fling!

You heard the rumors, you wished they were true, and now you know they are. Check back in over the next week, as we'll be releasing the Spring Fling 2010 openers, and you won't want to miss them . And keep an eye on your News Feeds (Fan Yale Spring Fling), as we'll upload more music, more pictures, and more videos in the coming days and weeks so that on April 27th, you'll be singing along with the rest of us!

Much love,

Your 2010 Spring Fling Committee

P.S. Here's one more little present, for your enjoyment:

The opening act for Spring Fling 2010 has a few pre-show requests for the Yale Community:

1. Cut the legs off your pants

2. Throw your shoes into the ocean

3. Sit back, and wade through the Daylight

And, most importantly, GET READY TO RAGE LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW WITH INDIE ROCKERS MATT AND KIM!!!!!

Matt and Kim are the indie-dance-rock duo that have been blazing trails from Brooklyn, New York, to college playlists across the country! Revered by Pitchfork as “the Quintessential Party Band,” the two have performed everywhere from Lollapalooza to South by Southwest, and they are more-than-ready to rock our faces off come April 27th, before they burn Bamboozle to the ground! Our final exam woes will melt away with Matt and Kim’s upbeat lyrics and kick-ass energy - exactly what we’ll need to start off a day of dancing, crowd-surfing, and general debauchery at

Yale, home of the Naked Party, Naked Run, and now....NAKED PERFORMERS!

Okay, they won't actually be performing naked, but check out their video "Lessons Learned" voted Breakthrough Video of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards and Best Video at the MTVu Woodie Awards, as they parade through Times Square.

Totally nude.

The Pundits should pay attention.

Not only did Matt and Kim recently have one of their songs translated into Simlish for the "Indie" station of The Sims 3, but their song "Daylight" has also been highlighted on Bacardi's most recent national ad. Yes, that’s right. Bacardi is Matt and Kim’s rum of choice (ours too).

They'll bring energy. They'll bring joy. They’ll make you live like you mean it (thanks, Bacardi), because THEY live like they mean it.

Get pumped. Matt and Kim. Enjoy Responsibly.
Hey how you doin Yale?

Lemme whisper in your ear...

Tell you sumthing that you might like to hear…

Wait till you see my….

Wait till you see the Ying Yang Twins!

Hailing from the dirty dirty, the Ying Yang Twins have been tearing it up in ATL for the last ten years, and are now burning through New Haven to leave their mark on Old Campus. One of the baddest names in high-energy crunk rap, the duo has produced nine albums including three remix compilations, setting high standards for getting low.

Speaking of…

Kaine and D-Roc haven’t just worked with Lil Jon, they’ve also collaborated with the likes of Wyclef Jean, Bun-B, Trick Daddy, Mr. Collipark, Pitbull and Mike Jones to produce some of the most popular club hits of all time. And they didn’t stop there, coming out with “Badd” and “Dangerous” a few years after. It’s been a decade since their debut, but a night at the club is still not complete without at least one Ying Yang hit.

You know their lyrics…

You love their music…

It’s time to get low and get CRUNK! The Ying Yang Twins. April 27th.

What do 50 Cent, the Duke basketball team, and Perez Hilton all have in common?

They love Mike Posner, the 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer who recorded his debut mixtape, A Matter of Time, from his dorm room at Duke. A sociology and business double major, Mike Posner is the guy who sits next to you during your econ lecture - except he only skips class when he has a meeting with Jay-Z. Embraced by hip-hop and pop fans alike, Mike Posner started getting noticed for tracks like “Drug Dealer Girl” off his debut mixtape.

Mike Posner has since released his second mixtape, One Foot Out the Door, and has collaborated with heavy-hitters like Kid Cudi, 3OH!3, and Wale (a Spring Fling ’09 alum). Check out “Cooler Than Me”, his track featuring Big Sean, Kanye West’s protégé.

Known for blending various styles and genres, this college rockstar once described his style by saying, “If Outkast, Paul Simon, and Deadmau5 had a wild orgy, you might end up with something that resembled a Mike Posner child.”

Arguably the hottest thing to come out of Duke since the basketball team’s short shorts in the ‘80s, Posner has already made his mark on the musical world, opening for stars like Akon, Gym Class Heroes, and will.i.am as he wraps up his senior year of college. You heard it here first: the music industry is expecting great things from Mike Posner. Before he begins his summer-long tour, we will have the chance to hear from this up-and-comer, who ignited a bidding war between record labels so fierce that it caught Jay-Z’s attention.

What’s the best part about Mike Posner? He loves to share. Download his two mixtapes - for free - so you can play them on repeat to prep for Spring Fling. Let's show him that Duke kids aren’t the only ones who know how to party.

P.S.: Remember Rosa Acosta from Drake’s music video? She may have been the best Drake ever had, but she’s also Posner’s drug dealer girl.
